It’s certainly been a long time coming but Aussies [in Sydney] will be able to avail themselves of Microsoft’s physical store at the end of this month. While we knew a store was coming there wasn’t a firm kick off date until earlier this week. In a blog post at the Microsoft Australia site, Managing Director, Pip Marlow, officially made the announcement…
I’m proud to announce that Sydney has been chosen as the home for the first Microsoft flagship store outside of North America
The store will be opening it’s doors on Thursday the 12th of November, right in the heart of Sydney, Westfield, Pitt Street. It looks like there are plans for a huge event, and I’m noting an agenda from that earlier link,
Over the past several months, Microsoft at Westfield Sydney on Pitt Street Mall has transformed into a cutting edge space to showcase the latest Microsoft technology – we can’t wait to open our doors and celebrate in a big way on 12 November.
Customers are invited to line up as early as Wednesday 11 November at 10:00 PM at the entry to Westfield Sydney near Microsoft. Grand Opening ceremonies begin at 11:30 AM on Thursday 12 November. Microsoft at Westfield Sydney on Pitt Street Mall opens at 12:00 PM.
One thing I hope that happens, is that availability of stock, both from the walk up store and online, becomes more reliable and of course varied. A greater amount of stock on the ground in Australia could only be a good thing. A lot of Microsoft’s accessories have been unobtainable, with US/UK online stores not shipping down under.
One of the largest stores to date…the Sydney flagship will include elements that our customers have grown to know and love such as technology you can try from Microsoft and our partners, the Answer Desk – a one-stop shop for technical questions, troubleshooting and repairs regardless of device or where it was purchased, the Community Theater – a space where customers can learn how to use Microsoft’s latest and most popular products in their everyday work and lives, and immersive video walls throughout. These stores are being built for you
It’s exciting to see this finally happening, and sort of validates [a little] the worth of the Australian Market to the technology giant. Will you be in Sydney for the big event?
