Yes today a blast from the past, and a look at the future all in one easy post. As Froyo has rolled out for the Nexus One and this week, appears to be hitting the Evo 4G, here’s a surprising development for the many still active user of Dell’s old flagship PPC, the Axim.
I’m still active on an Axim support site, and recently a new user posted a thread that was quite exciting for me. Some history, I’ve been actively following a long story at XDA Devs, waiting patiently for an Android port that will work with the HTC HD2.
Funnily enough a dev has ported Froyo to the Axim, and while not perfect it works on the x50, x50v, x51 and x51v. Whilst not at all a finished or usable product, the axim doesn’t really have the RAM to run the OS, it just shows how enterprising some developers can be.
Pardon the orientation and shaky cam, did the video on my HD2, it runs long, but on a device properly provisioned for the OS, I think you would see some lightning fast response. Check Out Pauls Blog Here, or send him a HD2 to port Froyo onto!
