For all the fault-finding that has been done about the way Microsoft has marketed Windows Phone to the consumer market, it has to be said that on the developer side of things, they have been nothing but supportive. Of course the Nokia/Microsoft partnership has raised awareness of the OS somewhat, and for developers in Australia, there have been many promotions that have afforded free phones for app submissions of quality.

It seems like one offer ends and another begins, this is a win for all concerned. Biggest of all for users, who, even though the marketplace busted the 100,000 mark earlier in the year, bloggers, critics and users of other platforms, still bemoan the lack of apps for the OS. So I’m happy to announce another incentive for Aussie developers to get their apps on and win a Nokia device, either the Lumia 800 or the Lumia 710.

Publish 3 new apps to receive a Nokia Lumia 710 or 4 new apps to receive a Nokia Lumia 800 #20120831 (strictly for Australian based developers)

Of course it’s not condition free, you need to sign up for a Dev Account, and successfully publish your apps between Aug 31st 2012 and 12 midnight EST Nov 2nd, 2012. Not as easy as that though,

Publish 3 new apps for a Nokia Lumia 710 (limited to first 50 developers to publish 3 apps) or 4 new apps for a Nokia Lumia 800 (limited to first 10 developers to publish 4 apps). The offer is limited to 1 phone per developer.

Yes the offer is limited to 10 Lumia 800’s and 50 Lumia 710’s, and the apps must be new, original, you can not count apps already submitted, there is no doubling up .

If you are interested, or have a friend that you think may be interested check out this post by our local Windows Phone Champ, Dave Glover over a his MSDN Blog for all the details.

While we are all waiting for Windows Phone 8 to release, it’s worth remembering that all current apps will be compatible with any new devices that come out later this year, so there is no point waiting for the new SDK, get developing now.
